Customer Update – Operational Update

23 June 2020

Dear Valued Customers,

Since the arrival of the COVID-19 virus we have seen disruption across South Africa, to our economy, businesses as well as our people. The rate of infections over the past few weeks has increased  exponentially. Aramex SA has unfortunately not been spared.

We commenced with mass testing of all our employees in the Johannesburg hub on Saturday 20th of June 2020. The results of the tests were shared confidentially with each staff member today by trained medical professionals. Unfortunately, there are several staff members that have tested positive for COVID-19. In response we immediately ramped up testing to extend to the entire facility and the rest of the staff.

Those employees that have tested positive were sent home immediately and will remain in self-isolation for fourteen (14) days. Employees who may test positive with the additional round of testing will follow the same protocols once their results are available. We will again follow an extensive deep cleaning and sanitization process of the entire facility over the next 24 hours, following the last cleaning that was done on the weekend. Our employee’s safety at work will always come first, and we will ensure that we have a safe working environment.

The mandatory hygiene protocols remain in place such as wearing masks, washing hands frequently, sanitiser stations widely available and social distancing enforced daily. All vehicles are sanitised regularly, and we continue to enforce these measures to keep our staff and customers safe. Our couriers will follow the “No Contact” delivery process strictly without exception.
While we have implimented these measures, we are not able to control community transmissions. All employees are regularly informed that if any symptoms are experienced, they need to self-isolate immediately and inform the company. Those who can work from home will continue to do so. As of today, we are not allowing customers on to the premises as an additional precaution. You can still reach us on any of our call centre numbers of through your personal Customer Relationship Manager.

As the national infection rate continuous to increase, we encourage staff and the general public to stay cautious and apply the safety measures highlighted. Every one of us must play our part in actively enforcing these protocols for our own safety but also for our fellow South Africans.

Sincerely Yours,

George Van Der Merwe
